Commitment to Clients
Welcome to Williams Lopatto PLLC. Our firm is founded and based upon a principled and deep-seated commitment to clients and their matters. In January 2014, a client conflict arose at our previous firm, and we quickly decided to launch Williams Lopatto. Thus our tag line. Fortunately, the stars aligned, as did our other clients, to whom we are very grateful.
We have also broken away from the big firm business model, where the goal is to leverage new associates, and where success is often measured in per partner profits. We will provide superb legal services by extremely experienced attorneys--all on a streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective basis.
Mary Lopatto will continue her practice in reinsurance litigation and arbitration. Mary began her career at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene, and MacRae, where she rose to managing partner of the D.C. office. She also served as the managing partner of Chadbourne and Parke's D.C. office. Mary is the former Chair of ARIAS-US, the leading professional association in the reinsurance arbitration community. She has more than 30 years of experience in reinsurance coverage, litigation, and arbitration. Mary is now using her specialized experience by serving as an arbitrator in reinsurance and insurance disputes. She is an ARIAS-certified arbitrator and has been qualified by FEDARB as an ADR panelist and expert witness.
John Williams will continue his trial practice, with an emphasis on libel, defamation, and commercial speech matters. John began his practice at Collier Shannon Rill & Scott (now Kelley Drye) before moving to Jones Day in 2005. John is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and was formerly the Chair of the District of Columbia State Committee. He has tried over 35 complex civil cases, in 15 states.
